I couldn't agree more. Many companies will GUARANTEE you top rankings, but the way they go about it can get you blacklisted from search engines. When this occurs, you've basically lost your business identity on the web. The only thing you can do to recover is get a new website address and start over again.
The legitimate companies who do it right are the true professional SEO companies (they're not the kind that contact YOU first). Typically, they start with monthly retainers that run from $2000 to $5000. If you can afford the good professionals, then you should definitely use them. I can recommend some legit, high-caliber professionals if that is in your budget.
What I offer is a small website SEO package and with it, I'll do things that will improve your internet presence and rankings. I do many of the things that the legit pros will do but I won't do anything questionable or iffy that will get you in trouble with the search engines. Some of my methods are: :
- unique page titles
- meta tags (only useful for a couple of the search engines)
- meta descriptions
- submit sites to search engines
- monitor search terms that result in your site being in the results so we can optimize those words
- recommend wording changes that will increase your rankings
- submit robots forms for your site to search engines
- create and submit sitemaps to the search engines
- provide you with 3 reports over a 6 month period
There's more but that's the beginning of the list. I do my best (and get good results) to get your site found, using keywords that YOU want to represent your site.
